We are looking to recruit an experienced, very technical, very hands-on SQL DBA with a Charity sector employment background as our Client undertakes an exciting cutting-edge digital transformation project. This is a genuine opportunity to influence the technical direction of the company regarding the full stack. You will be required to help set the Technical Architecture, decide on technology choices and be a key part of the Design Authority. You will be required to coach and mentor junior colleagues and set DBA standards & coding practices for SQL.

You will require experience in the following areas:

• All version of SQL Server including Database-as-a-Service in Azure (Azure SQL Database)
• Full performance tuning, indexing, maintenance (PSdiag) etc.
• Replication, Availability groups and advanced SQL Server functionality
• Advanced SQL skills, complex queries and reverse engineering stored procs and jobs
• Dependency injection / code patterns / enterprise level development
• Database design for OLTP – data modelling
• ETL

It would be beneficial if you had experience in any of the following:

• Development and automation in PowerShell and any experience of Azure runbooks
• Experience of new 2016/17 functionality – automatic database tuning, graph functionality, cross database transaction in availability groups, DTA, memory optimised etc.
• SSIS

What They Are Looking For: You will have working knowledge with Modelling and Data Analytics skills, using tools such as SAS, SQL, R and Python. Selections Data Analyst – SQL and Faststats (or similar): Reporting to this charity’s Data Manager, the overall purpose of this job is about visualising data; putting numbers in front of those that need it. Showing data in a format that those that aren’t technical will understand; essentially extracting data and turning it into digestible / actionable information. 

EXPECTED EXPERIENCE: 

• Data analysis geared at data modelling and cleansing to improve mailing selections 
• Querying SQL Server using t-SQL 
• Apteco FastStats (or similar data visualisation tool) to deliver data selections 
• Requirements gathering and communication with stakeholders 
• MS Office (Word, Excel VBA & PowerPoint)

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Deliver regular selections for communication ensuring business processes are being followed across the organisation and selections are on time. 
• Create new selections in FastStats (or similar), following established business rules and instructions from project leads. 
• Perform quality checks on selections, reports, and exports to ensure exceptional quality. 
• Log all communications and proactively identify occasions of over-communication. 
• Ensure that work is scheduled, deadlines met and communication business rules adhered to. 
• Review all data requests in a timely fashion and ensure that they meet business requirements.
